The Villa Tabebuia

The objective was to build a house with Zen-inspired characteristics. A contemporary Japanese style home with teakwood elements and organic accents.

For this client, creating a home with Zen-inspired features was the starting point. We then followed our client's lead and created a contemporary  Japandi home with splashes of vernacular accents through the usage of teakwood. The crafting methods of Axel Vervoord served as our primary source of inspiration. We were inspired by Japanese tools like adze and the expertise in furniture that developed from them. Organic textures are a recurring theme in all of our projects, tying together our design aesthetic and aim while maintaining the adaptability of each one.
